Who is marcemars?

My name is Marcela Reyes, but everybody knows me as  marcemars. I tell stories for a living –my own or someone else's–. Books saved me from a boring life of numbers, and thanks to them I discovered that I love writing more than almost anything else.

I am proudly Mexican, but I recently moved to Austin (via Washington DC – Mty, Mx) with el Jew* and 2 cats who hate each other, from here I write, edit, translate, read and Netflix (probably way too much).

I am especialista in all things Selena, I use Spanglish like my life depends on it, and everyday I regret that it wasn't me, but beautiful Linda Rodin, who came up with my life's motto:

"Unless it’s 5 in the morning, I’m wearing red lipstick to the airport."

I have 9 years of experience working on editorial, cultural, commercial and political projects. My work is focused on transforming ideas into attractive and well-written content. I also have extensive experience coordinating communications campaigns (media strategy, public relations), amongst many other things.

I have a B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies and a Masters in Humanistic Studies (specialized in Literature and Discourse). My dissertation is about New Latin American Journalism (2011) and ever since I am obsessed with Latin American chronicle.

If you want us to work together, you are looking for writers or collaborators, or you want me to write something for your site/blog/magazine, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail. I'll be glad to help you.

Let's work together!

*To keep my husband's identity safe, I gave him a  nickname, because that's what Mexicans do to show love.
